Can an AI write a whole book?

It can produce one. Some tools will generate 200 pages from a paragraph. What comes out is usually readable and almost always forgettable: the characters sound alike, the middle sags, and the ending arrives because the word count ran out. Readers notice, and so do agents, editors and contest judges.

What AI does well is the part that stops most people from finishing: the plan. Turning an idea into a sequence of chapters, each with a job, is hard to do alone and easy to fix once it exists. That is what this AI book writer does. It gives you a title, a logline, the main characters, the setting and a chapter by chapter outline, so you start with a map instead of a blank page.

How to use the outline

• Read it for the shape, not the details. Does the book start in the right place? Is there a turn in the middle? Does the ending pay off the opening? Fix those first.
• Cut or merge chapters freely. An outline is a draft. If two chapters do the same job, merge them. If a character appears once and never again, cut them or give them a reason to return.
• Turn each chapter into scenes. A chapter usually holds two to five scenes. Write one line per scene: who wants what, and what gets in the way.
• Plan it twice. Press Plan it again and compare. Keep the best opening from one and the best ending from the other.
• Write the first chapter before you trust the plan. The outline will change once the characters start talking. That is normal.

From outline to finished book

What happens to your idea

Your idea goes to an AI model running on Cloudflare Workers AI, which writes the plan and streams it back to your browser. We do not store your idea or the plan, and we do not use them to train anything. To keep the tool free, we count requests per network address for one day, stored as a one-way code. Plans are written by open models: Moonshot AI's Kimi K2.6, or Google's Gemma 4 when the tool is busy.
